I'mpickingupthepieces.

I'mpickingupthepieces.

A Poem by Avery James

 I repeat it like a

mantra.

I'mpickingupthepieces.

Restore their hope of broken wishes

with only my dried tears for glue.

I wish I wanted to be somewhere

anywhere

but here with you.

Tired of sitting and wishing

and being in love.

Take my hand like you used to-

make my breath abandon me and

reclaim my mind.

I'm losing you

in a race where we're tied to each other but

bolted to the ground.

My fingers are slipping

and I don't want to embrace the feeling

of having you fall.

Where the weight is finally gone

and I can feel the breeze again.
