![]() BookwormA Poem by Avery![]() reading is an escape..![]() Books Books Books Books are new, Books are old Books are fun, and Books are crude Take you to a new world Lost in thought, Fiction or Nonfiction Read to lose reality, Fake it till’ you make it Let them say what they what Don’t let it get to you And You’ll be okay Books Books Books Safe space to be sad, happy Everything in between To the stories in my mind You have a special place in my heart Make me confident, comforted, and me Change me with everything you do Books Books Books Every story told, to hold close No matter where I go I am home The remains of stories last Even though the covers close Lessons Old and New Books Books Books Read or haven’t Every one nostalgic Horror, Mystery, Fantasy Doesn't matter Pages etched into my life Journeys I wished never ended Endless in my mind All the stories I’ve read All the moments I’ve kept Books Books Books Made me cry, weep, sob Tales I can’t explain Each of their words stay Each guiding me in their own way Each story mine Will it ever end? Will I ever know? Will they fade? Or each tale becomes Part of me. Books Books Books Pages worn with time Creases in every spine Stories laid out Soft whispers in the air A world once never thought to man Found once again Page by page Path to the truth Books Books Books Lift me up Through the darkest nights Like a spark through The midnight sky Words of warmth Keeping me safe Shelter from the storm Guide me away Journeys somewhere new Though I wonder? How it all leads back to Me? Books Books Books Sanctuary only for one Quiet corners where One can breathe When I’m lost When I wander Remind me That I’m never truly alone All pages An escape From the loud world Around one Books Books Books A refuge A spark Steer me through the night Ink that will fade But will never Ever Be forgotten Memories wrapped up so nice Woven between lines Every page A door to a new world Curled up Lost in the night Books Books Books Each page a light A light towards the real me While I turn the page I hold the key They shape my way Laughing Crying Lost in time Fables that built me The words that stay Fantasy Where magic grows Mysteries That keep me on my toes Pages that never end Or whisper like old friends Books Books Books Not even sleep Can take me away from You A place where silence Is loudest Like a soft melody That won't go away I turn the page It echoes like lost souls Confining in its own heartbeat Reality and Dream Both one Books Books Books I wonder If I look ever so closely I will see a breath A form of life Far far away As I wander through the worlds That only exist in ink Yet feel more real Than reality It self Where I belong Books Books Books Unlike people Pages don’t judge They listen And stay quiet Every mark that I go back to Feels right Like returning to an old Place I used to go All the things that line the page Tears, blood, fingerprints All parts of me that lie Brings me back to you They say people change But books remain Books Books Books Yellowing pages Fraying corners Favorites of any kind Worn with unconditional love Return to a book Like an old childhood memory But this time You see it differently A better way Return to it Not only back to the book But the version of yourself You used to be Spine cracks Like an old song Familiar and warm Books Books Books As I read Memories I never lived Yet somehow remember Fold myself in the pages Characters wrap themselves around me Safe from the world beyond them A moment I never wanted to let go A well-loved book Keeps the fingerprints Of every version of me Read not just to escape But to return to myself Holds secrets Mine, theirs, and all inbetween Books Books Books © 2025 AveryAuthor's Note
