Compelling

 

  

I once wanted to be a writer,

an author, a novelist, a poet,

but all that has changed.

The longer I tried

the less able I was to afford

even a newspaper subscription.

I used to read the New York Times

Book Review Section,

until I noticed

that a review

didn’t seem to be a review

unless it had the word

"compelling” in it.

Then the word seemed everywhere,

and I could no longer read,

much less write.

 

But now the thought;

maybe I should have used the word

“compelling" more.

Compelling, compelling,

Compelling, compelling, compelling...

This is good! I read book reviews a lot and that is so true! The word compelling is always in the ones that get a great review. I think this is a great write!
