mermaidA Poem by AvalonJuneIn milky waning, purple light I swiftly made my evening flight And stole to misty sea that night. The cryptic moaning sea. I unleashed my boat, set it free Into gentle water like lavender tea. And then I look, and saw she: The creature from below. A cracked and fading star shown Light onto an angelic ashen face. Then, moan, Moan went wind and waves. And quickly all was thrown Into the salty wind and waves. I left my sanctuary for the grave. And felt my pulsing veins begin to fade. But then a maiden’s hand so brave Saved me from the murky aisle. She lifted me to rocky pile. Her blushing lips were parted in a smile. And it seemed her body was made of a pearly style Soft as a kitten’s miaou. Her skin was flawless and seemed to glow Her hair was like ribbons of a rainbow But then I saw a fish tail. Frightening, and beautiful
though I thought myself in fanciful dream. © 2012 AvalonJune |
