![]() A Raven ScornedA Poem by Autumn Dawn Ridge![]() The mournful musings of an otherworldly Raven. . . .![]() A thousand letters we have sent And yet I’m left to wonder To him my heart that I have lent Will my lips be ever plundered? Through the pouring rain and thunder I am left evermore bereft to wonder Which derelict insult was my blunder---- I am left evermore bereft to wander
Through the pouring rain and thunder I walked many miles in wonder What crime committed set asunder The fondness we knew for one another
Now all that remains is a ghostly apparition Of the affection that we once knew was ours By some errant twist of fate falls to attrition Voids all that we professed, and makes us liars This loss of love grossly impairs my condition As I walk around, some ghostly apparition I still cling to hope regardless of the hours---- And hope that love once lived revives it's power
The hours, days, weeks, months and years Pass by my eyes like pages in a book The culmination of all my worst fears---- You will go on without one backwards look
I walk around the township square With a hood over my auburn hair And the people there sit in wonder Whom does this poor lass pine for? A vagrant man without a care A fondness for her, he did not share A heartless beast who slammed the door And left her to wander evermore
She goes places that no one else goes Taking up with ravens and crows You could call them friends, I guess Kindred spirits embodying regret
A thousand letters we have sent The pages fly on the winds-----! I bow in church to genuflect And ask forgiveness of all my sins My crime of course was in loving you And not being able to let go---- Your folly was in not loving me, too Which was easy for you to show
A thousand letters we have sent From the book the pages are torn! God only helps those that repent---- Hell hath no fury like a Raven scorned! © 2016 Autumn Dawn Ridge
