The Raven and The CrowA Poem by Autumn Dawn RidgeDo you know the difference between the Raven and the Crow? A blackbird will stay with you And the other one will go One of them will peck and play And the other one will fly away One bird has his foot in today And the other one in tomorrow Just as one bird symbolizes sorrow The other bird will beg and borrow And both of them will twist and turn Mimicking what you might say Flocks of them look like a churn And the winds give them sway One bird will spread his wings to show And the other one a muse of Poe Do you know the difference Between the Raven and the Crow
Do you know the difference between The blackbird and his cousin Crow? One sooty winged bird remains unseen His cousin roosting in the shadows One will say, “oh yes, of course I do!” And the other says he doesn’t know One of them has a cockney accent His cousin’s muted repertoire, no accident Cousin Crow warns away by imitation But the Raven is lost in poetic recitations Mr. Crow’s a harbinger of disaster Seeking out corn fields and the like Brother Raven represents the ever after Presiding nobly above the doorway spike
Do you know the difference Between the Raven and the Crow? The Crow unlike his cousin Raven Seeks out this ever-earthly haven Squarely in today he lives Without much thought he gives For his days are clearly numbered All his tomorrows set asunder Whilst his brother Raven thrives Spreading his wings into the skies Lives to soar among the clouds While cousin Crow rests in a shroud
Do you know the difference Between The Raven and the Crow? One of them is black and sleek And the other has a pointy beak One of them is a bit reclusive His cousin is more social conducive And whilst their mystery is inconclusive Their qualities remain beyond elusive And while the reputation of ravens Is reported to be merely unkind The disposition of crows is clearly craven With murder on their minds So, do you know the answer to the riddle? About the Raven and his cousin Crow Most people fall in the middle And even more say they do not know The solution is rather simple And logic here we shall implore Whilst cousin Crow said nothing----- Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore!” © 2014 Autumn Dawn RidgeReviews
