Until the Dawn

Until the Dawn

A Poem by Autumn Dawn Ridge

To just keep walking
on and on
to just keep walking
until the dawn

to just keep crawling
on my hands and knees
dragging through the mud
no one to hear my pleas

to just keep fighting
when the day is done
to just keep killing
till the war is won

I have gone deaf
and I have gone blind
and the world to me
is very unkind

I look to the East
and I look to the West
my life in twilight
the sun has set

To just keep plodding
forward evermore
until the reaper comes
to settle the score

I dry my tears in time
to see the Sun!
in my disbelief approaches
the Holy One!

No more walking
No more crawling
No more fighting
and no more killing

No more deafness
and no more blindness
and no more of this
troubled world's unkindness

He dries my tears
and makes me see
all of the love
He has for humanity

I really enjoyed this poem's emotional conflict; at the end we find a satisfying answer - a beacon of hope we can remember well when feeling crestfallen. Bravo.

I read this poem like a song even it`s seemed like a song. All stanzas are my favorites one especially the one`s amazing with your words ..

I have gone deaf
and I have gone blind
and the world to me
is very unkind

Very nice phrase. The world`s really very unkind because it`s all caged into the reflections of love--A love which`s number of things to do with life and which`s all further made the world very unkind. You play with your words very beautifully. It`s seemed you dancing all over the floor in your home playing with your own kind and rhyming words. Excellent Poem. I`m looking forward to reading your stuffs!
