Pillows on my toes

Pillows on my toes

A Poem by Autumn M Paddock

The grass used to feel like pillows on my toes,
The air used to smell so sweet,
The rain used to feel as soft as silk,
My heart would race every time we'd meet.
The world used to be so perfect,
Then you changed my outlook on life,
My heart that once would beat for you,
Was cut open with your knife.
You kept me sane,
You kept me pure,
Then you flipped a switch,
You're no longer my cure.
You're just a nightmare,
I now see in my sleep,
With you in my mind,
I simply weep.

You've moved on,
So have I,
But even today,
I sometimes cry.
All it takes,
Is a lyric from a silly song,
That reminds me of us,
And how you were so incredibly wrong.
You said I can not be loved,
You would constantly call me names,
But little did you know,
I was done with your stupid little games.
The grass used to feel like pillows on my toes,
The air used to smell so sweet,
And my love,
Your chapter in my life is complete.
