So close to you

So close to you

A Poem by AutumnBelle

I bite my tongue

Then taste..

Tangy, crimson, wet, warm.

My eyes are continuing in search

For escape..

Darting, Full, Looking down.

My throat gets thick, and it's hard to talk.

Suddenly aware of myself.

I had been tiptoeing on the verge of an eternity of love and friendship,

Softly pushing ahead. Curls blowing in lovely wind.

Your smile makes me adore you,

Everything beautiful...

Then I realized myself. Ridiculous.

What am I doing?

I forget all I know,

My mind drains of everything I recognize.

My eyes are painted with fog,

Hard to see...

Unsure.

I give up, though I was almost there.

Quick words to make my escape.

Made up and

Ridiculous.

I hide in my shadow. Hide in my insecurities.

Wow, this is beautiful. You capture so perfectly the fluctuating emotions of lovesick teenagers (and sometimes, to our shame, adults). I feel like this poem is adolescence on a page. Wonderfully done.

I can attest to the introverted perceptions within your words, I myself have tiptoed on the verge, but then pulled back in self-abasement telling myself I'm just a dreamer. You capture this well here. Nice job.
