As if 2 years were like it was just YesterdayA Poem by Aspala
As if it were 2 years ago
my brother had been happy sleeping in the basement and playing video games headsets on game in x-box clicking buttons out of frustration the loud voice you would hear from the basement when he was angry when he had failed The bowl of Goldfish crackers would just be set next to him 2 peanut butter sandwiches had been stacked on that bowl and the rest remain After school he would have that smile that I would never see again It was no ordinary smile, it was a special smile of joy and laughter then it became a smile that said deep down "I'm hurt, help, me." And now as I dare walk down those stairs, it is silence and darkness. Where his body use to lay made a dent in the couch, like he evaporated from the earth Now what is left is his controllers that lie everywhere, and the headsets that have not been touched in ages. When I look at those simple objects it reminded me of the games; Halo, Gears of War etc. I remember walking down the carpet covered stairs, getting pajamas walking past him as he concentrated, my brother telling me to "watch out or I can't see" in a non-mean way but as I look at the couch the air is saying "You can walk by" and as if 2 years were like it was yesterday.
