What was only a Dream

What was only a Dream

A Poem by Aspala
"

My brother had committed suicide and I had this dream about him, so I came up with this poem.

"

As I lay my Head to rest

I try to think of the best.

I turn to lie on my side

This is the day my Brother died

Closed eyes

As hours pass by

Knock, Knock, Knock

I hear knocks on the front door

Who comes to our house at 4?

Wide Awake

Unaware like a snake

Slowly creaking up the stairs

Squeak, Squeak, Creeeeaaaak

On the back of my neck are standing hairs

He wakes me up with a gentle hello

While I’m sitting there wimpy like Jell-O

He says, “ I’m here “

Why do I have so much fear?

He’s alive and well

Everyone ring the bell

My brother is here with his Avenged Sevenfold Shirt

Happy and well, like he never got hurt.

Mud and dirt all over his body and shoes

What should I do?

In the Morning, I take him to school

To show how cool (it is that my brother is back)

We laugh and have fun

The day is not almost done

When it hit noon

He said see you soon

He came back at night

And said “I’m Alright

I have to go”

Why?

“Because I said so”

Although it seems (real)

It was only a dream

This is so sad but I love the emotions you've woven into it. Dreams are amazing things, aren't they? I'm very sorry that you lost your brother, and I'm glad you have the courage to share this poem with everyone :) Truly, you're amazing.

Dang. I can't explain how powerful an impact this poem had on me. I'm very sorry for your loss, but it looks like he took his last wish to send you a message within a dream - he said, "I'm here." He'll always be there for you, no matter what happens. It's amazing how messages can seep through the mind so easily. Brilliant work.
