Price of Loving (What We're Running From)A Poem by AuthoressIt's a lot easier to read when it's set t the music I'm writing, but for now, this is a song about wanderlust, what pushes one into it, and its detriments to introverted and intertwined souls.
Let's turn into runaways,
Turn bathroom tiles into the states, And drive across the country just to crash in the tub. Let's be stupid, catch sun rays, Romanticize the Everglades Like everyone, and we'll become What we're running from. And yes the city lights are great, But have you seen the seaside late At night when the houselights Shudder in the rain? I know the movies sell it so We all think that we're meant to go But I don't think we ever meant to pay The price of loving That comes with scanning The bar code on your wrist; The lines are thick and thin. And of all these things I'm certain of I'm not quite sure what constitutes love But I know it shouldn't batter people like it does And I don't trust. And for hours I see the same things over and over and over again, And for hours I breathe the same air over and over and over again, And for hours I die in infinitesimal pieces every second that goes by. We've got so far to go to get away from home, Holding hands to find a new angel that's unmuted, Getting chills from fireplaces, Holding candles to our faces, Finding thoughts that have yet to be refuted, We've got so long to go, so long to go, long to go. We can find little shacks in which to hold our heads While our hearts are busy tangling over all the ends. Let's turn into runaways, Turn bathroom tiles into the states, And drive across the country just to crash in the tub. And we'll become what we're running from. © 2014 AuthoressFeatured Review
