From Here To PaternityA Poem by The Cunning LinguistA message to my son (who wasn't born at the time).
Some words to you, my unborn son; I hope you're gettin straight,
the way your mommy's belly grows I know you're gettin weight, but poundage is the least of all your worries little kid, so listen very closely cause it sounds a little weird. This world you're coming into is an awesome place to be, it has more ups than downs my little dude; take it from me, that if you get your education; put your brain to task, the skies will part I kid you not and it'll be rainin cash. Before you hit the top my son I warn you; watch ya back, there're snakes out there who'll swear to God they always gotcha back, but then the time will come for them to put those lines to test, come sink or swim and they'll go all Titanic; buy a dress, cause those the cats whose actions show they need a pretty skirt, beneath a tough exterior and you'll be really hurt, but lessons lie in ev'ry single thing that you'll go through, and I'm not talkin smack my boy believe; I know it's true. You'll love and lose; so many girls you'll meet throughout your life, a few you'll love so strong you'll know without a doubt your wife, and then there'll be the ones out there who'll show you otherwise, so fast they'll run right past you; let 'em go to other guys. I have so much to teach you Son I anxiously await, the day or night you're born; 'til then those gnarled up hands of fate, will keep you strong and healthy; take it easy baby boy, you'll know me as your father cause with you, I'm bathed in joy.....
