One cold stale winter

I was born by the river

In this small little town

The heart of the South

Where the water flows up

But never trickles down

I’ve been running every since

I been running since a child

The burdens of the city has piled up

My troubles have ran me down

Change gone come

Change gone come now

My child hood produced

Very limited smiles, but so much love

Fun has ran out

It’s evident, it’s evident now

So I announce without a doubt

Change gone come

Change gone come now

Change will come by choice

Change gone come by force

Change will raise you up

Change will give you a voice

 

Change will break you down

Change will deplete your strength

Change will bury your pride so low

Taking you under beneath

 

It’s been a long time

It’s been a long time coming

But I can’t keep running

Change gone come

Change is inevitable...not always loved and liked...but an inescapable reality of life.

I like the contrast that you used here and I especially liked the lines
'Change will come by choice
Change gone come by force
Change will raise you up
Change will give you a voice"
These lines show that you cant stop change but if you accept it, you can make something of it! Great poem, thanks for posting it!
