But you did.

But you did.

A Poem by Jordan Smith
"

This poem is dedicated to a very special friend of mine. This person has been a major influence on my life this past year and I cannot thank this person enough for their allowing me to be a friend.

"
I look back & reflect
on the people that
I've met, that I've laughed with,
cried with and even danced with.

I look back & reflect
on the relationships
I have with these people
and I consider them my friends.

I am grateful for these friends.
If not for them, I am not
the person I am today.

But, when I look back & reflect,
one person keeps showing up
over and over again.
They don't have to,
but they do.

This person impacted me more
than I could have imagined.
This person doens't have to,
but they do.

This person was there for me
when I was down, weak
and vulnerable.
They didn't have to be,
but they were.

This person didn't have to
meet for coffee and hear
me go on about my
life's misery,
but she did.

This person doesn't have to
still keep in contact with me
and see how i'm doing,
but she does.

This person didn't have to
accept my invitation to
a dance on a December's night,
but she did.

I look at this tree from that night
and I remember the night,
The night where you didn't
have to become my best friend,
but you did.

It's rough, but it was me just trying to put my heart down on a typed page before I lost it. Don't hound me for it, I will be making adjustments to it soon to smooth it out.

I liked the way you expressed your feelings..And actually there are so many people in our life who shaped us , many of them we lost in our path and some are with us..I remembered my old friends as I read this..And that girl seems so special to you..You are lucky to have her..Every person who comes in our life has some impact on us be it small or big..Be that person be a good or bad one..I loved this..
Keep on writing..

It may be a little rough but it's also touching on a fundamental level that I think is impossible to fake.

That makes this a rare little gem in a world of predominantly trite writing. Well done. I sincerely appluad you.

We take persons in our lives for granted and activities that do for us for granted and i like how you acknowledge this topic with a thank you in each stanza somewhat. i could sense how appreciative you are the little things. Great read.
