Speak With Me

Speak With Me

A Poem by Austin_Meehan

Let’s Talk

Let’s talk,

Talk about the time you and I first met,

Our eyes locked,

Our minds went blank.

Speaking into the future,

Let’s talk of the times we would lay under the stars,

Thinking about our future,

Talking about when and whether,

The time your air was mine,

The time our flame was lit without a lighter,

A war without a fighter,

Let’s talk about the end of it,

We’d begun to fight just for the heck of it,

We’d sleep on separate beds now,

And all we have is dead, wow.

I can’t believe you cheated, ow.

And I wish I could forgive you,

Maybe I do,

But there is no more “Babe”,

No more “Hey boo”,

And worst of all, no more “I love you”.

Because I don’t anymore,

And the fact that I did hurts even more.

That’s why I love this s**t,

But she, she was one hell of a hit.

Too bad now that I hate her, and now her wrist lay spread open,

She did it herself, she took a razor, and made it slit.

She isn’t mine anymore,
Never was anyways.

Nobody knows where she is…

I just wonder what she does these days.

Wow, really shocking end to that poem, it makes you take a breath you weren't aware you were holding. Good rhythm and tempo, and your word choice makes it seem like the narrator has "moved on" but his past still gives him a lot of pain when he thinks about her.
