The Act Of Inhaling Glass

The Act Of Inhaling Glass

A Poem by Augustus Waters
"

A poem

"
Glass.
Sharp edges.
Cutting through the softest things with the slighest brush.
Breaking so easily.

Beware the glass around my heart.
It wasn't meant for you.
You broke it far before we met.
The pain you can't undo.

Inhaling glass is an art.
A tricky yet painful experience.

The act of inhaling glass
Is downright foolish.

But sometimes it must be done.

You have a most original style... I find this enigmatic

It's hard to not be accepted by the one you love. Insecurities can break someone emotionally.

This was very well composed, the structure definitely added to the effect of your poem because it matched so well. Also, it was a unique way to approach the topic, and I always enjoy finding new stuff.
The only way I can describe how I felt after reading your poem is like that moment after a really good musician finishes playing and there's just that moment of hush while everyone is so deep in thought and decide if it's appropriate to clap or not.
Well done.
(Ps. I love the name)

It seems a little bit like you're mixing metaphors here.. there's glass around the heart that was somehow broken before the two even met (how?) and now it has to be inhaled? So you're inhaling a heart? You're inhaling damage, or do you mean "inhaling" merely as a means of taking into the body or into oneself? I think there's some clarification to be done here but never stop writing!
