My Last Goodbye

My Last Goodbye

A Poem by Hippy
"

this is what i will be sending to a friend of mine tonight

"

These years have been a blast

But these memories will soon fade to past

An apparition they’ll be

Like the last leaf of the dying tree

I tried to pluck it

But it wasn’t good enough

I tried to bury it

Paving over it in concrete

But it just sickened you

To know it was there

So I give you my last goodbye

May the sun always shine on your face

May the wind only push your way

May all your shadows be pushed away

May your days always end with a heavenly glow

May all of your wishes and dreams come true

Even though me and you will never be

Or speak

I wish for your happiness

And your well being

Heartbreaking in its purity and sincerity. The sadness in a farewell is evidently present but so as the desire for a friend's happiness. Your concern has been intricately weaved in every smooth line.

Keep Writing. ^___^

You missed an 'r' in 'your' near the end.

I liked this; it was short and to the point. The first stanza is a little rocky; you rhyme, and then you don't, you don't have rhythm, and then you do. The second one in much better, even if you shouldn't use 'pushed' the line after you use 'push'.

I think you would not be amiss to delete the first half altogether. If you are trying to say an amicable goodbye, the second half does just fine. The first one just comes across as bitter.

Damn, Hippy, this freakin' blew me AWAY. Part One is bitter, n' Part Two is so gosh-darn sweet and gentle and LOVING.

My favorite line is "I tried to bury it
Paving over it in concrete"....
FANTASTIC STUFF!

It's a very beautiful poem with the colour of sadness in it. Like the last reviewer said, it's got lots of emotions in it. It shows how much love you have for your friend even when you're parting ways. I hope she understands. Keep writing.
