Daddy IssuesA Poem by Aurora Tigress
You've hurt my pride more times than I can count
Just like my father You ask me to be two opposite things at once Just like my father You never accepted me the way that I am Just like my father You tell me you love me all the time Just like my father I'm not interested In who you think I should be You don't even bother to know the real me Some things you say Hurt me in a way that leaves me writhing forever in pain You don't try to understand me Just like my father You scold and reprimand me Just like my father You don't see that my obsessions are who I am Just like my father You mock the person you think I am Just like my father And still I struggle for your approval Pathetically wanting to know I'm in the right But I'll never be good enough Because you make me not want to be good enough I want to be bad just to make you mad And make you feel the way you make me feel I know you truly love me Just like my father I appreciate the good you've done for me Just like my father I haven't forgotten when the good outweighed the bad Like it used to when I was little But you can't ever learn And I can't deal with someone Just like my father © 2013 Aurora Tigress |
