But Santa, I Can Explain!A Poem by -Aurelia MirellaI don't usually write poems, but I was really inspired by a little saying I saw while shopping for last minute gifts. It's through the eyes of a young boy whom I think was inspired a little bit by my younger cousin...Anyways, enjoy!
But Santa, I can explain!
I really didn’t mean to hide my sister’s cat in the drain,
Or leave my old toys outside in the rain.
To be honest, Fluffy and I were just playing hide-and-go-seek,
And those old toys were already beginning to look tattered and weak.
About great grandma’s old vase,
We were just playing ball in the house and couldn’t help but use it as second base.
And by the way, it wasn’t me.
Cousin Chase was the one who hit it with his knee.
But Santa, I can explain!
I didn’t want to kiss Mary Jane!
She kissed me, I swear to you it’s true.
She’s much too vain, and her lips…
They were blue!
I didn’t glue my history teacher to his chair,
He was the one who was being unfair.
And I didn’t throw that first plate of spaghetti,
That was my friend who reacted when someone said he looked like a yeti.
Santa, Santa can’t you see?
None of this was really me!
I’ve been good this year, really I was.
So there is no reason, Mr. Clause,
To make any present withdraws.
I hope you understand what I’m trying to say,
And I hope I won’t be disappointed on Christmas Day…
