As the legend goes, Pandora, who out of her curiosity, opened Pandora's Box and released the demons of the world as we now know of it as, with all except for one, the Spirit of Hope, named Elpis. However, she feared the wrath of Zeus for disobeying his direct orders to never open the box, but unbeknownst to the rest of the world, she did attempt to make amends.
Iris woke up in her bed, with a slightly warm and distinct feeling on the lower half of her body. She slowly raised the cover of her blanket, and peered down to see her cat Helene asleep on her legs. Moving carefully to avoid waking up Helene, Iris shifted her legs slowly, drawing them closer to chest, when suddenly her bedroom door flew open and smashed into the wall, and two struggling bodies flew into the room and crashed into the opposite side, where her full-framed mirror cracked under the sudden force.
Helene awoke yowling with fear, and Iris winced as Helene's sharp claws tore through her flesh, and kicked out of her bed. "Simon! Seltan! What in the hell are you doing?!"raged Iris. The twin boys were wrestling on the ground when they realized that their sister was shouting at them, and slowly stopped fighting. "Uh... S-Sis?" stuttered Seltan. "Why are you in our room?" Iris' eyes blazed with fury. "YOUR room? Can you take a look around for yourself and see exactly where you are?"
Iris saw both of her brothers' eyes dawn with realization. "OH! Uh, my bad sis! I'll catch you later!" yelped Simon, as he attempted to escape the room. Iris pounced, with unrelenting rage, towards Simon, catching him by the collar of his shirt. "You both, and yes, you as well Seltan, are going to fix. My. Mirror. NOW." she threatened. Seltan, who had attempted to cower out of his older sister's line of vision, crawled back out into the open meekly.
"Simon?" asked Iris. Simon, although obviously not wanting to do any work, glumly walked to the mirror, where he could see countless reflections of himself in the cracked shards of the glass. He held up his left hand, and the air in front of his palm started to wane. The glass in the mirror resealed the cracks, and within a matter of a few seconds, the glass was back to normal.
"There. Can I go now?" Simon defiantly asked.
"Yes. You may." was the simple reply from Iris. Simon exited the room quietly, not wanting to be yelled at any further, and Seltan was unable to move, paralyzed from the events that just occurred before him.
"Sis? Why is it that I don't have special powers like Simon? We're all family. You have it, Simon has it, how come I'm the only one that doesn't have anything?" questioned Seltan.
"Well..." thought Iris. "Not all of our powers develop at the same time Selt. Simon's first came when he was 8 years old, remember?"
"Yeah, but we're both 15 now. Was I just never meant to have any powers?"
"Don't say that." reassured Iris. "I'm pretty sure they should be showing up soon, after all, 16's the deadline. And if we all have powers, I'm 100% sure that you will too Selt."
Seltan felt a lot better with his sister's reassurance, and jumped to his feet and started heading to the exit. "But Sis, you never told us when your powers developed?" pondered Seltan.
"Mine appeared as soon as I was born Selt," smiled Iris warmly. "Yours will come in due time."
Seltan smiled in return, and walked out of his elder sister's bedroom. As soon as Iris heard Seltan talking with Simon in the kitchen downstairs, she collapsed onto her bed, and breathed a deep sigh. Simon's power of pyro-telekinesis developed when he was a child. How come her little brother Seltan, who's currently nearly double the age of Simon's Awakening, hasn't had any visible power development yet? Was it as he feared, and he never had any actual powers? Or have they always been Awakened, and no one had noticed...?
