A Fallen Angel

A Fallen Angel

A Poem by Aura Devour

Fallen from grace,
An angel lies wounded.
Screaming in fear and pain,
Blood and weakness.
No one came to her aid.
Drowning in the hatred,
Bewitched by the darkness,
She was lost forever
As she walked this earth alone.
Shades of white turned into solid black
Slowly killing the light of hope
Her ethereal smile fading
Into a wistful face unknown
Her heavenly kind heart
Was replaced by an empty hole
Her divine radiant beauty
Turned into a dark shadow
Of the devilish night
Red filled her eyes
As she began to burn inside
Consumed by the fire of vengeance
She cried for her innocence
As Evil embraced her
And she gave into him
He lured her into his dirty tricks
Robbed her of her halo and made her weak
Her lust for blood and gore
Only doomed her further more
Obsession and temptation
Paved her way to self destruction
As she searched to regain her faith
In helpless attempts but in vain
And as she looked towards the heavens, she screamed
“Lord! Why hast thou forsaken me?”
 She is an angel
Turned into a demon
Cursed by God
Who abandoned her soul
Blessed by Satan
Who corrupted her whole
She’s nothing more
Than just a fallen angel!

Hello Aura,'

Sometimes my reviews make little sense. This will likely be one of those.

To look within oneself and to see the sin and fault within can seem like a blessing from Satan. We see ourselves and cruel, undesirable, wicked if you will. But is that who we want to be? Or is it who we made ourselves out to be? Some of us can't help but be the shadow that lurks, or the evil under the bed. It's just who we are.

But this poem screams to me like someone who has done wrong and found themselves in the depths of decay and desperately wanting to crawl themselves back out. Yet she has accepted her fate. Is that right or is there a way out? Don't know. But regardless, and excellent read.

With love,

Matthew
