Words in Winter with an Oak

Words in Winter with an Oak

A Poem by Mother Maggie

Author's Note

Mother Maggie
Glistening white thru delicate twigs
Silent purity—stillness
Giant oak—slumbering colossus
Dreaming spring

Here in quiet contemplation
I dream the vision…
…of your buds
…your leaves
…your acorns.

Here in retrospective silence
I follow the sunlight
Twinkling in your silvery coat of ice
And hear in your bark
Tales of springs and summers past
While holding your promise
Of those seasons yet to come
Here in this season of renewal…
