Embers

Embers

A Poem by Augusto Cruz
"

What is left of life.

"

Embers

Our steps take place over rubble
unseen to the naked eye
the morning mist wet our faces
as we see the past through mirror's eyes

Solitude eternal as we choose to wander
without a goal, without direction
we go away from heaven, close to hell
we fall in spiral again and again

As I sit to rest from my restless walk
Through time and space alone
I realize in circles I've traveled
To myself is revealed alone I stand here

Mourn oh! soul of mine, mourn
cry all you need to be clean
Look up, look out, beware
pray, fast, be healed at once

Ruins abandoned, tears unseen
My soul screams with sorrow
This night I'll try to remember
My soul is in embers
