Man Without a Past

Man Without a Past

A Poem by Augusto Cruz
"

Born out of ashes

Man Without a Past

Memories, I have lots
but past I have none
All that I am is not what I was
because the old man in me died

Behind this iron bars, I'm free at last
This is the contradiction of my life
I have seen many die condemned
Been innocent they choose the curse

OH, the way of the wicked and the lost
that in their dark hour they blame God
But the world is unfair, ain't that so odd?
But today I am happy, I will grow old

I am a newborn

that has lived a lot
my years of experience

has taught me much
behind bars I'm paying

for the blood in my hands
but I head for the future,

I'm a man without a past
