The Cross I Chose to BearA Poem by Augusto CruzBroken love...The Cross I Chose to Bear
Black is the night that I remember when you crawled beyond my sight liquefied, your heart slipped away hopeless river through my fingers as I saw you shadow slowly go fading away in it's darkness
Shameful inheritance this testament and the vision that haunts me of brighter days gone long ago by the hand of she who gave it all in exchange for the indifference abused in her feelings broken down to ashes
Hear me please, one more time I'll swear Once again I'll yell my soul to the air that will carry away my broken promise The memory of you, the cross I chose to bear
Slowly my steps through a cemetery cold and lonely are the tombstones faded, damaged by the pouring rain surrounded by spirits of the ones in pain wandering alone without a way ashamed under a sky without a heaven
Pale moonlight that lights the graveyard Unsure her silver glow travels through leave-less trees forever mourning sole companions of your endless pain cry amber tears for the brokenhearted Bosom stolen from now empty chests Unspoken word that lingered in a stare by a pride too wide to fit between us tore us into pieces as a guilty foe embracing cheerful your final goodbye the image of your burning picture staring with forgiveness in it's eyes
Dishonored I forever remained for standing silent under the storm for letting emotions perform my act through the shades of our existence without a flame to show your path through your bridges of desperation © 2011 Augusto CruzAuthor's Note
