Ode to Mountain

Ode to Mountain

A Poem by Devashish Kumar
"

haiku

"

Far from alarums,
excursions of urban life,
lives a proud mountain.

Draped in luscious green
velvet, she stands tall in the
vast ocean of blue.

Of falling water
rustling leaves, birds chirruping,
and her augustness,

unmindful, heedless,
she indwells in solitude
and self-assurance.

When I visited her,
she ruffled my unkempt hair
with wind- slow and soft.

Impressive poem. You so masterfully remind the reader of our relative insignificance on this planet, and how we're so easily consumed with petty human issues. Then, there's the mountain, silent and strong, demanding nothing from anyone, but beautiful and strong.

I like how you personify the mountain, making her in to quite the woman! The last stanza has a haiku-like quality to it-- congrats on your win in the ode contest.
