To the Town of Memories

To the Town of Memories

A Poem by Devashish Kumar

Today I again strolled to
the town of your memories.

I was surprised I still
remembered all its lanes.

I could identify the earthy fragrance
of your memories from a distance.

The sky was lit like
your smile-kissed lips.

The minarets of your beauty
were still showing off.

Far far in those narrow streets,
echoed your hearty laughs.

That promise-shop of yours
was empty today for some reason.

Then away in the distant corner,
I saw the grave bearing my name.

The dense swirls of your hair
still cast a shadow on it.
