That's Why I Hate To Love You

That's Why I Hate To Love You

A Poem by Autumn Inman

Looking back at what we were can bring pain.
Shattering a heart into millions of pieces.
Like a raging storm, our tempers destroyed our future.
Hateful words spewed like vomit aimed at one another.
Like a dagger thrown to kill, piercing through the chest.
Deep down the agony laid hidden, til it was afraid no more.
So much hurt in so little time.
It took a week to start falling, and two for head over heels.
Being warned about boys like you only made it sweeter.
Everyone knew you would be the one to break my heart.
They were right.
What they didnt know is that you were the one to shape it.
So indecisive, you played me like a yoyo.
With a flick of ur wrist I started to fall.
And with another I was back at your will.
I guess you wondered if you let me go, would I come back.
The answer became clear when I didnt call.
I couldn't be just your option, I had to be your priority.
Time has dragged on, every thought of you lasts an eternity.
I always wondered if you'd change, if you'd realize I'm good for you.
It's been a rocky year, but we are still fighting.
Not fighting for the last word but fighting for love.
Pushing to forget the heart ache and hate.
Because we love to hate each other.
and that's why I hate to love you.
