A Dangling Love

A Dangling Love

A Poem by Autumn Inman

We made it through the wilderness.
We made it through the storm.
We were running for our love.
But we've finally caught it.
Like a fish on a hook, it's dangling before us.
Slowly losing life.
We have to take it and set it free.
For true love is boundless, and rarely lost.
If we keep it in sight or even in hand.
It can die, slowly suffocating.
Let it go, like a bird.
Let it soar and bless the sky.
For like a flower, love must bloom.
Give it space and lots of freedom.
For if love is taken care of.
It blesses our lives with beauty.

This reminds me of a song that I can't quite remember now, but the imagery here is lovely, especially the fish one since that's something fresh that I long to see.

Very powerful emotive language is present in this poem.
Nice use of similes as well.

This is really good. "let love soar!" i agree 100% in what you've said here. :)
