Vines

Vines

A Poem by Audrey Rey
"

From Evening Visits and Morning Cigarettes

"

Never cared

                  what lay

beyond the layers of you.

Those were your vines

to untangle

just like I had to cut off

                  the remainder of mine

but you should have warned me

not to

trample them

                  in the morning mist.
