Commuters journey

Commuters journey

A Poem by Audrey - Butterfly Woman
"

reflections following a day out in London... what islands commuters are

"

‘Commuters journey’
Sitting in the rumbling carriage I might as well be alone
Care worn the silence weighs heavily upon my shoulders
Thoughts cascade
Past, present and future collide in a single moment
Kaleidoscope of fragments create their own complex vision
Words never uttered as papers are rustled
The prose matters not
Eyes cast down
Anchored to the authors text
Tensions exude from the journey men
Each their own island, resolute in their isolation
Meaning is understood within the transient commune
Time is used to remember
Silence a respite from the earth bound chaos
Reflections draw them deeper, until they each become invisible to the other
Train continues
Gentle rocking comforting in its familiarity
Great city passes by
Suburbia opens its welcoming arms
Dark clouds retreat from dusty window panes
Home calls
Books and papers close
Eyes are drawn to the door
Each has their moment to alight
Home calls
