Autumn's Golden Hue

Autumn's Golden Hue

A Poem by Audrey - Butterfly Woman

a celebration of the nature's autumnal palette

‘Autumn’s Golden Hue’

Autumn casts its golden shades

Morning greets me with winter’s cold embrace

Dew casting fairy glamour on nature’s palette

Sun’s warmth begins to dissipate

Blue sky a parody of its summer glory

Birds fly high, soaring to pastures new

Distant lands call

Mortal form mirrors nature’s cycle

Spring and summer now a distant memory

Autumn is before me

I hear the call

Watch the birds fly

No stasis will cacoon

Each season bringing its own beauty

Breathe deep

Rejoice for all I have is now

Tomorrow is a story yet to be told

Hello Butterfly woman. I read a couple of pieces before coming to this one. I like this piece. Free style that flows nicely, without meter. You slowed it down just enough in spots to let the reader catch his thoughts. nice move. This paints a nice picture of fall. I don't know that Spring and summer are "Distant" memories, as the next verse suggests that autumn is just beginning? "Memories" might have been enough without the word distant. Or even "fading" memories since you are using color in the piece. This piece accomplishes exactly what you wanted. I see fall in it's glory, and what attracted me to the piece is that I too, absolutely love the exquisite colors of fall here in Virginia. This year in particular, the autumn colors were beyond spectacular. Kudos on a great write. I have a couple of pieces on autumn too....but one of them is a rhymer......and has meter, might not be to your liking. But if you get the chance...
