My Destiny

My Destiny

A Poem by Audra Ybarra

My mournful mind speaks unkindness to me
Searching the worlds faces and places
For a feeling of serenity
Where will I find it
When will it be
Am I destined to be alone for eternity
I feel the life asphyxiating from my soul
I am reaching up yearning for more
Trying to reach happiness from the depths of nothingness
I want to free my mind from irrational thoughts
From fallacious needs and wants
I ask the stars shooting above
For the one who will inflame me with love
I am full of bitterness from being deprived
Of the one thing I’ve hungered for out of life
I have inescapable feelings that I am condemned to solitude
Is it my unavoidable fate that my heart must succumb to
I urge my mind to keep its sanity
By detaching my heart
Leave it behind
Let it be
