In The Dark (Posted: Jan 14, 2021)

A Poem by Audie G. Couch

No sight, couldn't see.
Creeping feeling of loneliness.
Yet, she was there next to me.
Held the closet door tight,
Together;
It stayed closed, unbelievably.
A harsh life beckoned us out
So, we imagined better places we could be.
Safe, we stayed there, in the dark.
Away from our world's insanity.
In the same space.
Broken we could not ever be.

This is wonderful, so dark and eerie, and gives off a dreamlike feeling. So much is said in this with even more atmosphere. I loved the rhyming and each word you used is perfect. I think it's one of my favorite pieces of poetry I've read here!

Thank You, Colacat
I'm happy you enjoyed it.
A lot said in the words my friend.
"Safe, we stayed there, in the dark.
Away from our world's insanity.
In the same space.
Broken we could not ever be."
I liked the complete poem and the above lines stood out to me. I wonder, can we know the feeling of safe again. Thank you dear Audie for sharing your amazing poetry and your thoughts.

If one has to exist in the darknes and a world of insanity, I guess it is always for the best to have that one strong, special person beside us, that we know will hold that door handle with us and bring some light for us in that darkness. This is a very interesting poem, Audie and one that can be applied to many life circumstances. I enjoyed the read. :)
