Chess Pieces (Posted: January 7, 2021)

A Poem by Audie G. Couch

The intangible board is set.
Put in place by those at the top.
Who do not regret.
Kings, and Queens.
The Bishops, Knights, and Rooks.
And they play, and play.
Play, Play, Play.
All night, and all day.
Play with our lives.
The pawns,
Average citizens who strive.
Strive to grab, and hold onto stars
That we hope will not die.
Unable to be crushed under their heels.
We are strong.
Continuously thrown into position.
So, their game can go on.
Feed with our suffering.
We experience unimaginable pain, so
Their lives can stay the same.

Washington is a messy chess board. The leaders making decision for their sake. I play chess and in the game of chess. You are thinking ahead. I believe our leader not thinking. Just waiting for lunch. Vey nice use of words. I hope the new leaders. Fix problems, not create them. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Agreed, he doesn't think, and he definitely does not care for the people. Only his self.
