A Fairy Tale (Posted: Dec. 14, 2020)

A Poem by Audie G. Couch

There once were two children
That told a guardian about a monster
Beneath their bed.
In a soft voice the being said,
"Worry not little ones,
For I will slay it, and it shall be dead."
Afraid they replied "but what if you don't, and
Then it comes after me, or me!"
"I will not fail", said the guardian,
"I promise; safe, you will be."
With the unsheathing of a sword
The guardian killed the foul beast,
And it was not seen again.
Not even in the far east.

Killing off the night beasts for the children. A brave thing to do. A very nice short story in the poetry. Thank you Audie for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome Audie.
This reminds of a book by John Connolly “the book of lost things.” A twisted fairy tale. I want to know what happens after.
