This Pandemic By: Audie G. Couch (Dec. 6, 2020)A Poem by Audie G. Couch
This pandemic is hard, and social distancing makes everything seem so far,
Yet, I feel, yes I feel that we have never been so close. People talking to neighbors, and holding their loved ones the most. In this uncertain time, there's no telling what tomorrow will bring, but we will make it through this together; you and me. One day this will all feel like a long bad dream, and again peaceful we all shall be. I know that we are afraid. "Worry not, worry not" are the words I had to whisper today. In my heart, I hold all of you near, and with my mental embrace; imagine relinquishing your fears. I shut my eyes, and see the faces of those; others call "Dear". Then I see my own family, because we are all standing in front of the same mirror. Thinking of better days, I promise we will get there, Yet altered, changed, but feeling like we are breathing fresh air... Breathing it for the first time, and our happiness will be spontaneously combined with sorrow, For those who have died. Yet, even though they had to leave, they are not truly gone. Their love for their families will always stream down from heaven like a song. I can hear them in the distance now, so loud, they could be heard over a gong. Their little melodies, and sweet love songs.
