The Persona of Love

The first free verse poem that I attempted to write. This little piece is about the expectations we have of love when we're young and naive, and then the shocking reality of the matter.

The Persona of Love

When I was a young girl I thought I knew the persona of love

But how much does a child really know

Because when I started to grow up and I met the persona of love

He shattered my vague understanding

The persona of love is challenging

He is almost as stubborn as I

But amidst the tough warfare

We adapt to this concept

In the faint void we deem as relation

As this is my first attempt at writing poetry, I would love some feedback on whatever I could improve or what I seemed to do well.
