Cast Off Your Thoughts

Cast Off Your Thoughts

A Poem by Aubrey Dan Perrin
"

My Writing and My Life

"

Sitting in solitude, with no drop of sorrow.

Writing with gratitude, waiting for tomorrow.

The sound of my heart, beating out the room.

The peace opens up like a flower that blooms.

My pen casts a trail of ink across the sea tonight.

The sands blow across the page, taking final flight.

The wind blows through my brain, stirring up thoughts.

Words are flying out of my mouth like savage hawks.

The storm clouds open their arms, and rain down.

Cracks, roars, and relentless thunder, sound.

Rain batters my window, and desolation is found.

A convivial event is sprouting up through the ground.

The snug environment caresses my very soul.

My thoughts blow through the air like hot coals.

My body and my mind are in two separate places.

My eyes and mouth are on two different faces.

The thoughts are blazing across the room like a wild fire.

Every one of my feelings are trapped in barbed wire.

Nowhere to go, but down, and tearing you apart.

Piece by piece, I solve the puzzle among my heart.
