About a school girl crush....

You crushed me

The moment my eyes

Locked with yours

Behind those frames

Thick-rimmed

And jet black

 

You surprise me

The moment you tucked your hair

Behind your ear

Charmingly  

Letting it rest

On your shoulders

Long and uncut

A mess of auburn

 

You stunned me

The moment you raised your hand

And opened your mouth

Revealing words

Intelligent

Confident

I always listened

With a covert smile

 

You wounded me

The moment our voices

Intertwined with laughter

Like two children

Sharing a secret

On a playground

No one else noticed

 

Did you know

You tortured me so

My lips

Longing for yours

To reach across the table

And touch

My mind realizing

It could never be

Because the truth of the matter was

You never noticed me

This poem unlike so many others I have recently read has captivated my attention from the title down...it speaks to me of juvenile crushes and high school broken hearts. Very nice to be taken back to that place where we all eventually recover from.......very nice
