Love is a Battlefield but I’m Bulletproof

Love is a Battlefield but I’m Bulletproof

A Poem by The Girl with the smile
"

Putting your guard back up after a breakup....

"

I can taste a bitter iron

In my mouth

As blood runs down

The side of my face

Where scratch marks

Newly formed

Burn with a dull pain

I’m facing a monster

A shape shifter

It can take many forms

A cunning smile

False lips

A wavering hand

Man or woman

A sword glitters

In my grasp

I am a warrior

I will not back down

My one and only quest

Guarding my heart

Locked safely in a tower

My chest

A beat less drum

As I run towards the creature

I raise my sword

An eternal question

Arises in my mind

Every time.....

What am I fighting for?

I love the question at the end.
Really thought provoking, I feel like I really get where you're coming from.

Love the title! There's a good use of emotion in this piece, I think it is very well written. Great work.
