Hope You Like ItA Poem by Xanthous Crow
A dab of color here and there
Maybe yellow, maybe blue Upon a secret project I've embarked, dear I'm going to paint a kingdom for you And you alone A swirl of the brush paints the moon With tendrils of horsehair serpentine A craggy castle overlooking a vast sea of turpentine Lonesome and majestic As you are A rippling sea of grass Forged through the stroke of a wrist A cresting wave of emerald green With flowers in place of sea foam Undulating gently The sky, an incarnadine Keeping the paint heavens aloft Clouds of purple shades Like schools of fish Never daring to set foot on the earth The ground itself is alive With shifting myriad colors The realm of the dryad Old and overgrown Tangled beyond compare Forest green beneath the shining stars Of icy cold blue And maybe, just maybe One of those stars will descend A fiery, shrieking angel, to caress the earth For you, I paint a kingdom Away and sheltered from the world Where old, far-off things will no longer trouble With bony, crooked fingers A place of repose and solace Into the paint goes my heart Leaden and volatile More than just color that pleases the eye A thing of hope and desire and love I hope you like it
