Hymn for the Soul Stealers

Hymn for the Soul Stealers

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

"There is every possibility, granted the limited range of human perception, that things can be right next to us, living besides us, with us -- just outside of our senses."

"

Quietly they come in the night
Bone-faced wights
Arising from burial sites
Unseen to us like ultraviolet light
Cast curses onto us, a terrible plight
And then once more vanishing aright
Their wiles subtle, insignificant like mosquito bites
But lo! and then does fail us our might
And slowly our soul is sucked with spite
Away! Away! goes the spirits' flight
Our lives blown out like a candle light
Fuel for them for a ghast's fire reignite
Pallid, gossamer things that live and die overnight
Stealing our breath in the waning twilight

Excellent poem and diction. I'm surprised no-one has reviewed such a superb piece of poetry. Each line flows so well with the classic style of writing. A great poem and ghost story.
