Melkor

Melkor

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

Finished Tolkien's "The Silmarillion". I have to say, Melkor/Morgoth is, by far, one of my favorite characters in a piece of literature. I can connect to him very well.

"
Oh, how much I hate you!
Thy mortal men I've never met.
And yet, you sicken me, all of you,
Fill me to the brim with disgust and dread!
You have that which I desire,
By rights, by my power, that which is mine!
So I shall enshroud you with ill-will,
Seduce you with lies
And subject you to my despair and hatred that knows no bounds.
But am I not special? Am I not worthy of love?
No,
For I am banished, shunned and scorned"
An outcast, feared and hated,
Accursed to misery.
I watch, with mine own eyes, as thy craven insects scuttle about
Earning love! Happiness!
And I am left here alone,
Bare, desolate, hollow.
Ensnared by malice,
Both my blessing and undoing.
