Silly me,
To believe in you. Hope against hope. Dream against dream. As if you'd do what you said you would. Silly me, To smile and nod and believe, Your empty promises, Unchanging, As you dance me along on puppet strings, My terrible puppeteer. And yet, I still believe in you. Silly me, To actually think, That you would change. But here I am, Waiting for you. Imprisoned in this iron cage Of hopeful thought! Silly me, My dear, To love you as I do. Because Lies and half-truths are all you are. But I believe in you, my dear, Despite the hurtful things you do. Silly me, To shed tears, Night by night, Day by day, Wasteful tears spilled over you. But you don't care. You never will. Hurting me is all you do. Silly me, To love you, my dear, To love as I do. But I do love you. I do! I do! Mindless love is all I give. All I do. Silly me. © 2011 Xanthous Crow |
