Schwarz Katze

Schwarz Katze

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

For my cats, who cannot read.

"
If crossing your path is bad luck
I would gladly accept it.
After all, seven years is a worthy trade
For a lifetime of love and companionship.

For you are my dear pets,
Companions and friends,
Who watch with knowing eyes
That make you seem almost - human.

As if you knew what I prattle on about,
Or the source of my complaints
As you sit there, legs folded underneath yourselves,
Merely watching.

Superstition lies -
You bring no ill omen or fortune here.
You, who cry in the night
You, who scratch at the door frames.

You are not a demon, despite the claim,
Nor a harbinger of end-times or death,
But noble creatures to be loved
With ebony coats and those golden eyes that wander the passages of my dreams.

And, yet,
The way you vanish
For hours on end
Make me question, as if you were walking the bridges between worlds.

Only to return, inevitably,
Coming, running, from wherever you've been
Back -
As I fill your feed bowl.

oh, a mysterious cat. I also have a black cat, but I don't believed its bad luck if you find a crossing black cat in your path like the saying goes. Then again there is no harm in believing. Yet we must take to mind that everything is enter-connected, there is a reason for everything. The strings of bad luck depends on the threads of fate. very nice piece sir.
