Things I HateA Poem by Xanthous CrowI try to be a patient man Never intending to judge my fellow men But at times I cannot help it The anger and frustration Bubbles and boils up. I hate a lot of things; Ignorance and stupidity, those conjoined twins That gnaw at the brains of those who were once, Perhaps, Reasonable. Promiscuity, ugliness of deepest black, As it always paints itself as innocent, Painted with bruises and bloodied eyes - always the "victim". I hate politics with a passion, But grudgingly, I know they're a necessary evil, Lest we be no better than savages or animals. I hate how hard it is to get a job. I hate how it is okay to be a "f**k up". I hate how there are double standards, Directed even to men like me, Who are considered good-natured. I despise indecisiveness, At some point, you've got to stop running and running and running And face the tiger. Make up your mind, Please. Or inform me to stop, Because trying is too painful. I hate the blind indifference people have towards one another, All smothered and stifled, Looking at hazy figures from behind smoke And mirrors, Leaving me feeling miniscule - An ant trying to stop the flood Of human suffering. I hate laying awake at night, unable to sleep. I hate feeling out of place, like I don't belong. I hate being so disgusted that I don't have an appetite. I hate how people try to hide behind excuses. I hate ---- Looking back, it appears that I hate a lot of things. © 2013 Xanthous Crow |
