The life bringing rain? The nurturing showers? This land's soil is cracked and scarred Having gone too long baking in the sun Stems and flowers long since dry Withered beneath brutal beams And unyielding, unmerciful light Where did you go, rain wizard? Whose beard was the color of thunder clouds? The one with the stories The kind that make hours shoot by Your rocking seat by the hearth has been empty for years Swathed by cobwebs And dust that has been here too long The plaster is burning off Where has the rain gone? It has been gone too long Won't you come back To refresh the land? To water your flowers? To revitalize this soul? Where have you gone, grandfather? © 2012 Xanthous CrowFeatured Review
