Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

A Poem by Xanthous Crow

It's the holiday season again.
That special, most beautiful time of the year,
Where Frosty the Snowman comes out to play,
And Santa makes his deliveries,
Guided by Rudolph and his fiery nose.
Let there be peace on earth
And the joy of giving to your fellows.
Well, I tried to buy into that,
Even got you something nice.
From the heart.
Something I thought you'd like.
Well, I tried to buy into that
And no one bought it in return.
There's no joy, this year.
Just your house, torched.
And me standing over your grave, laughing and dancing,
With champagne, ready for the New Year.
Or maybe you'll see me on the news,
Or find me at home,
Swinging from my ceiling fan
Or having drunk myself in.
Maybe there will be no new year.
That time of year, again,
And boy!
Is it cold.

I loved this. Morbidly amusing and entertaining. Also, in the 6th line between 'there' and 'peace' I'm going to assume a 'be' is supposed to be there. Great write.
